Hello everyone, I'm building this model to transport my crane's pieces.
I decided to realize a short version of a Man TGX, with a tipical italian turret (Sivi).

I would like to thank Rainer (Man TGA 41.660), Marcus (Daf XF105) and Peter (MB SK "Torben Rafn") for having inspired some parts of my work with their masterpieces.

Here are some pictures:

Now I have to replace tamiya frame with an home made frame (made by the same friend that realizes diesel tanks)...it will be specially realized for my Man, with all necessary holes (an example in pictures):

I also have to change tires and rims, replace front bumper and I would like to realize a fifth wheel like the one realized by Rainer.

See you soon with new updates.

Super Arbeit, welche du da machst. 10 Sterne. Bin gespannt auf weitere Bilder.

Dear Antonio

I have to admit you've done an amazing work so far. I'm looking forward to more progress!

On a side note, are you still going to go for the short wheelbase as the new frame looks
like the long wheelbase?

Keep on doing this a great TGX :ok.

Kind regards

:winker

in English...
The new frame looks very good.
How did you do the cab closure? Self-built or CAD?
I'm curious about the details next.

in German...
Der neue Rahmen schaut sehr gut aus.
Wie hast du den Kabinenverschluß gemacht? Selbst gebaut oder CAD?
Ich bin neugierig auf die nächsten Details.

:prost

Thanks everyone!

The frame in the posted picture is for a classic version of a Man TGX, I've posted it as a sample...these frames are made by a friend of mine and he will realize one for my Man with short wheelbase and all necessary holes I've made on Tamiya frame...my frame will have tilting and cab lock system you can see in the other picture I've posted, in addition to a 8mm higher than normal cab (I'm thinking to convert my Man to a 6x8 version).

Here in Italy is snowing from yesterday, so yesterday morning I started to realize the ballast box...here are some pictures:

Actually I'm doing some tests on an Heng-Long smoke unit to find some parameters to obtain a correct amount of smoke. Then I'll realize a metall smoke unit and insert it in fuel tank. With a PC cooling fan connected with motor channel, my exaust pipe will smoke proportional to motor rpm.
Here are last test:

Hi :winker

But a MAN-TGX not smoke in the original.
If he smokes while driving, it´s broken. :(

Hello Winni, it is true that if a modern Man smokes, its motor is broken...white smoke means that it burns oil.
Only an old motor smoke, and the smoke is dark...howewer I think I will not realize a smoke unit because today I understood that it's too difficoult to realize something realistic to a modern motor smoke.
It also consumes too much battery, which means I have to put another battery inside the model and this is very difficoult. I need space for sound and light units.

Hallo Antonio,

I think your decision is properly.
I've never seen a smoke generator, which pushes out the exhaust really reel. And the emission color has never even voted. Often it looks like a smoldering in the truck or like a steam locomotive. :hfg

Thee ballast box looks very good. :ok
In comparison to the first front axle and the rear axles, the second front axle affects narrower. Is that intentional? Or deceive the Pictures?

Hello Antonio,

Excellent project, good job! Scale and detail, beautiful.

I wonder, can you tell me, What did you do with these assemblies? What kind of welding or solder ?

Greetings from Istanbul

Ali

Hello Rainer, thank you...I think that pictures deceive...in this picture you can see that 2nd, 3rd and 4th axles are at the same footstep (102mm). 1st and 2nd axles are spaced like the Man that I took as example (first picture in this topic).

@ Ali
Thank you Ali, for brass soldering I use a little propane burner and special tin I think you can find in a good hardware store...sometimes I use also a silver alloy where I need more strenght...all lattice boom section of my crane are soldered with silver alloy (and a bigger burner)

Hello everyone, I have my new frame made by a friend, this frame is specifically made for my Man and it is realyzed from a drawing of mine that I have given him, with higher cab supports (it will be an 8x6 truck) and short step.
Normally he realizes 4x2, 6x4 and 8x4 long step frames...these frames are 100% "Tamiya friendly"...here are some pictures:

Hello Antonio,

your Truck looks very nice!

The frame is great!
Where did you found the right positions of every holes? In an original plan?

Thank you!

I have taken the measures of all holes from the original frame using a caliber, including the holes that I had already made for my short step version..then I did a CAD drawing and my friend has used it to make the frame with a laser-cutting machine and a CNC bender.
